Conservation and Animal Care
Meet Darwin Animal Doctors, our new grantee! They are busy on the ground in villages in Sumatra, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, enacting humane education in schools at all levels from kindergarten to grade 12, teaching empathy for animals and for all marginalized people, and promoting conservation in the form of Youth Rangers (a type of scout program for animal lovers). This volunteer program guides youth to become young advocates for animal care and environmental protection. They have the opportunity to learn basic and critical animal care skills, reinforcing the values of conservation and compassion, and are given first-hand experience in animal care, medical issues related to inadequate care and how companion animal health relates to the health of the environment around them. What a wonderful way to foster a sense of responsibility and to empower compassionate leaders of tomorrow!
