Pushing for Institutional Reforms
Our most recent Grantee, Compassionate Action for Animals, has established a new program called Wholesome Minnesota whose aim is to reduce the consumption of animal products and to increase the demand for plant-based food through volunteer engagement and activism. The organization trains volunteers to contact institutions they have a personal connection with, such as a school cafeteria, nursing home cafeteria, place of worship, or restaurant, and to secure the institution’s commitment to increase offerings of or support for plant-based meals. The goal is to reduce the amount of animal products which are currently being served while simultaneously expanding the availability of plant-based dishes, and to raise awareness about the overall benefits of plant-based eating to both institutional leaders and the general public. Time to initiate some healthy reforms!
